Great detail, pose, color in the second shot of the kingfisher. Tough bird to approach, at least I've not been very successful at it. Beautiful...

The second kingfisher was proud indeed. I like its hairdo.
Try placing a kiddie pool under its perch full of minnows

Frankly, I'd be thrilled to do half as well getting a kingfisher image as good as these. Of the two, I prefer the first. The bird has a pleasing size in the frame and the pose gives a tremendous all around view of the bird, and the curving perch is great too.
I LOVE the idea and look to the catbird image, really cool, a bit off the top might be nice....? But I totally applaud your out of the box composition on that one. |

Cool images, Don. All nice, but I really like the first Kingfisher image - great pose and composition. I also like the closeup shot with the water beads on the breast feathers.

I like the first one because of the perch but the full crest display and the detail is amazing on the second one. This is one bird I would love to get a nice shot of.
